The question of whether Captain America was a virgin has been one of the biggest debates among MCU fans, and thanks in large part to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally helped shed some light on his love life of the first Avenger. In the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters and Dr. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner is in a car and they start discussing Cap’s virginity issue. Walters makes a case that due to his ability to always save the world before and after the freeze, he never had the time to lose his virginity. After initially refusing to discuss his friend’s love life, Banner finally reveals that “Steve Rogers is not a virgin. He lost his virginity to a girl in 1943 on the USO tour.” As reported by THR, She-Hulk showrunner Jessica Gao was speaking to io9 when she shared that Feige was about to explore this question and finally put the conversation to the proverbial bed. “Kevin was really in on the joke, and he was actually the one who volunteered the answer to that question,” Gao said. “I couldn’t believe we had to settle this matter once and for all.” Gao also talked about how the writing team’s philosophy on She-Hulk was to not only explore the themes MCU fans were trying to answer, but also to ask for forgiveness as opposed to license and push the boundaries in terms of what questions could be addressed. “Our philosophy was really like we’re going to do things until they tell us we can’t, because if you start asking for permission too much, then you give people an opportunity to say no,” Gao said. While he didn’t reveal the answer, Captain America actor Chris Evans spoke about the matter in 2014 with Vanity Fair, saying, “Cap puts what he wants last. That’s his MO, and I think for so long he just refuses to bleed people. So it’s hard to explore a man who doesn’t want to make waves with his own personal conflict.” “It’s funny when you think about it,” Evans continued. “He’s probably a virgin. He’s probably a virgin! I don’t know when it would happen.” Evans ended by sharing that he thinks Cap was probably holding out for Peggy Carter, but left some room for a special dancing girl. “He was on tour. Maybe, that’s true,” Evans said. “Maybe one of those [dancing] the girls blew his mind.” He laughed and added: “He’s probably just a nice guy. It probably held up for Peggy Carter and is probably a bit more old-fashioned in that regard. These are a lot of things that I think are giant conflicts, but they’re also very personal conflicts. He’s a very human guy. That’s why I like it.” More recently, Evans tweeted a response to the She-Hulk debate and let the emojis do the talking. 😂😂😂🤐 #SheHulk — Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) August 18, 2022 Ruffalo didn’t hesitate to respond, saying, “Sorry bro. He was under extreme pressure.” For more, check out the other burning MCU questions She-Hulk has already answered, our review of the first episode, and how She-Hulk shines an even more comedic light on MCU characters.
