Lamborghini has unveiled its new SUV, the Urus Performante, which has already set a production SUV class record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Road. It is priced at USD 2,60,000 which roughly translates to ₹ 2.07 crore. However, the Urus Performante is yet to be launched in India, but it is expected that the performance SUV will come to India in the coming months. Lamborghini says deliveries of the Urus Performante will begin before the end of 2022. The engine in service is the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that has been used by other Volkswagen subsidiaries. But Lamborghini has re-tuned the engine and it now produces 666bhp of peak power, which is a 16bhp bump from the current Urus. Torque output remains unchanged at 850 Nm. It can hit a ton in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 306 km/h. (See also | In pictures: Lamborghini Urus Performante SUV breaks cover) The Urus Performante looks more aggressive than before. More importantly, Lamborghini has managed to shed 47 kg of weight, but still, the SUV weighs 2,150 kg. The manufacturer has removed the air suspension and replaced it with stiffer steel springs combined with adaptive dampers. Because of this, the ride height has been reduced by 20 mm, which has helped improve the stance of the Urus Performante. The track has been widened by 16 mm. The new bumpers look more aggressive, are 25 mm longer and are made of carbon fiber. A new differential is used to distribute the torque and a new Akrapovič exhaust is now standard. The steering has also been retuned for more feel. Other changes include new upholstery, carbon fiber options and new stitching. Lamborghini also offers Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R performance tires as an option. These are specially adapted for SUVs. First Published: August 20, 2022, 12:22 pm IST
