The ex-wife of John Poulson, 44, raised the alarm after she was unable to contact him from Canada, Mexico News Daily reported. He contacted a neighbor who went to check on Mr Poulson at the rental in Jarretaderas, Nayarit state, and found the boy crying and in shock next to his father’s body on August 14, the news website said. Police told Tribuna de la Bahia that Mr. Poulson the boy is next to his father’s body in a bedroom with the lights off and the air conditioning running. Mr. Poulson was in an advanced state of decomposition, the police said. According to neighbors, he had not been seen since August 7. Police have not yet released the cause of death. The boy was placed with child protective services while his mother traveled to Mexico from Canada. Although there was no immediate indication that he was the victim of aggressive behavior, the US State Department on Wednesday expanded its “do not travel” warning to six of Mexico’s 31 states and urged Americans to “reconsider travel” to 11 more after by a wave of orchestrated violence by criminal cartels across the country.
