Courtesy of PG&Evia AlertWildfire/ A wildfire west of Nevada City burned 70 acres and prompted evacuations and road closures in the area Saturday afternoon, officials said. The blaze, named the Pleasant Fire, broke out around 2:30 a.m. Saturday between Owl Creek Road and Lost Ranch Way near the town in the Sierra foothills, CalFire officials said. The fire is 0% contained and several structures are threatened, but authorities could not confirm how many are in danger. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office announced evacuation orders for McKitrick Street on social media. Orders have also been issued for all residents north of Newtown Road, including parts of Jones Bar, Owl Creek and Kentucky Flat, according to the Zonehaven online emergency response platform. An evacuation warning is in place for areas south of Newtown Road. Officials advised residents in those areas to begin preparing to evacuate. #PleasantFire Zone NCO-E075 has been split into 2 zones.
