The singer was found unresponsive in a room at the Berkman apartment complex across the street from Rochester’s Mayo Clinic specialty treatment center, where he had checked in using the name Morgan Brown on Aug. 11.
According to the Sun, Darius’ friends were reportedly “worried” when they struggled to get in touch with him in the months before his death.

A source said: “Someone contacted me to say, ‘Can you try to contact Darius? It’s gone offline and I’m worried.”
The friend explained how the behavior was “unusual” for the singer, who took almost two weeks to respond to the text message.
“When he came back, the response was to say ‘thanks for getting in touch, I love you and sorry for the late reply.’ It was very strange,” the source explained.

They continued: “It was like talking to a stranger. I spoke to him afterwards but he looked like he might be a bit lost.’
The friend went on to say that Darius explained that he was taking some time to focus on himself.

Local police in Rochester said there was “no indication of intent or suspicious circumstances” and were awaiting toxicology results that could take up to two months.

The Mayo Clinic is described as “Rochester’s premier address for stylish short- and long-term furnished suites and residences.”
The majority of those who live in the apartment building either work or are treated at the Mayo Clinic’s Saint Marys campus — it’s unclear if he was treated at the medical facility.

The medical facility, which opened in 1889, has 70 operating theatres, ten intensive care units and 1,265 beds and specializes in cardiac treatment, transplants, psychiatry, neurosurgery and rehabilitation.
A police spokesman said: “An investigation into the cause of his death is still ongoing. There is no known threat to the public.”
A heartbreaking police call revealed the moment the star was found unresponsive in the block of flats.
The Rochester Police Department said it responded to a “deceased call” at 11:53 a.m. on Aug. 11 at The Berkman, and the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the person as Darius.
According to reports, a dispatch call was made when a “medical” team was requested for a “possible deceased.”
Another call was reportedly made minutes later by an operator who said: “They don’t have to answer. We will wait for RPD [Rochester Police Department] to reach the scene. We will secure the residence.”
Darius is believed to be just weeks away from a reunion tour with his former Pop Idol co-stars, with sources close to him claiming he was very ‘excited’ about the return home and journey back to the UK.
Stars of the show from around the world, including Queen singer and American Idol winner Adam Lambert, were to be invited back to the Thames TV set at the Criterion Theater in London’s West End, the Sun reported.
