Twenty Ottawa Traffic and Patrol officers teamed up with the Department of Transportation for “focused enforcement” in the Barrhaven area. Officers issued 130 tickets between 5pm on Friday and 3am on Saturday, issuing 35 speeding tickets, five seat belt violations and 19 improper silencers. “Several other tickets were issued for running a red light or stop sign, improper tires, cell phone use and improper brakes,” police said, adding that five people were charged with driving while suspended. Six drivers were charged with stunt driving. Police say a 16-year-old driver with a G2 license was observed traveling at 159 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Road at Tom Roberts Street. A 31-year-old man has been charged with stunt driving after he was seen traveling at 146km/h in an 80km/h zone on Limebank Road in Leitrim. The stunt driving charge carries a 30 day license suspension and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.
