Both firefighters and police officers battled thick, black smoke billowing from the 48-foot yacht after it caught fire around 3:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. None of the passengers on board, who were rescued by a good Samaritan, were injured, he said. Emergency crews sprayed the boat, which eventually sank below the river.
